I am a husband to my beautiful wife Katie and father to four amazing children. I have been working as an accountant and finance leader since 2009 and currently serve as the Chief Financial Officer for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver.
Like many people in the stage of life I am in, I am incredibly busy, mostly just trying to make it through the day. As a husband, father, and leader in my workplace, I spend a lot of time trying to figure out ‘how to do it’ and until recently, have not spent time stepping back to look at the bigger story.
Life can be a grind at times, but what I am discovering is that there are lessons in the grind that, if I take the time to look at, can be life changing.
Life can also be lonely. In the struggle, I am tempted to feel like I am the only one working through problems, and that everyone else has it all figured out.
This. Is. A. Lie.
Over the last couple of years, I have discovered that in sharing my struggles, I find connection with others. Through connection, I find strength and inspiration.
It is no coincidence that this revelation has taken place as faith has changed from the thing I do for an hour on Sundays into the way through which I try to live out every aspect of my life.
My hope in sharing my own journey is that it becomes an invitation into something greater than the daily grind.
The Cedar Life is about the long game and each of us becoming the person that God had in mind when he created us. It is about slow growth and learning from those who have gone before us. It is about rediscovering the ancient paths and learning to walk them.
I hope you will consider joining me as we embark on this mission together.
